Job Summary

The Payroll Clerk will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. You'll be responsible for data entry, verification, and maintaining comprehensive employee payroll records. This role requires a strong foundation in financial principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll data, including salaries, allowances, deductions, and taxes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records
  • Calculate and deduct taxes according to government regulations
  • Generate payslips and ensure timely distribution to employees
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to management
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll matters
  • Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of new employees (payroll aspects)
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to tax regulations and payroll procedures
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality of employee financial information

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or diploma with demonstrably relevant experience)
  • Strong understanding of basic financial principles and accounting practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Proficiency in data entry and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in English and Hindi (both written and spoken)

Experience

This role is well-suited for individuals with a strong academic background in finance or a related field, and a minimum of 0-2 years of experience in a payroll or accounting role. A passion for accuracy, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential.
